Yeah, of course I do. I'd say it's better than being alone, which is true, but I really enjoy your company and I think you might like some of the stuff I can make.

I bet you're right. I don't tend to eat a lot, but anyone's a better cook than I am. What's your specialty?

French cuisine is my preference but I can cook just about anything from scrapple to canard à l'orange.

All I know about French food is bread, cheese, crepes, and snails.

Scrapple's probably more my speed, but let's not start out with anything too heavy.

Hang on. Were you hoping I was coming on to you? I thought you and that guy who lives with you are together.

Why does everyone assume I'm getting together with everyone I know? Geez. He's gone, anyway, not that anyone but me seems to notice.

I'm sorry he's gone though. Never really met him, but I know you two went through a lot.

No, sorry, I'm just feeling very sensitive today. My fault. He and I had an arrangement of sorts.

It's fine. All this place does it drag up bad things some days. But there are lots of good things and good people. I'm luckier than I let on.

Why's that? Because you aren't in prison right now?

That's one of the reasons. The other reason being that I'm alive.

Or the place you were before home?

At home, in a manner of speaking. And most definitely in the place I was before here, especially if Cable had left me there alone.

It makes sense. I didn't say it must when I first got here because I didn't think people would get it. But this place is better than home for me. Even with all its threats.

Man, home must really suck. Maybe we can talk about it more when you come over.

Maybe. You know my face-to-face "talking about it" doesn't look a lot different than this right here, though.

Are you at the hotel, or still in town?

I'm still at the hotel. Every time I try to leave I end up back here.

What's your room look like? Have you checked out the beach?

I'm sure something bad is going to happen, but this is pretty nice for now.

I went to the beach for a quite a while. It felt weird but nice. My room is great but too big for one person. It's very comfortable and has a bar that magically restocks itself when I leave.

What about you? All orgies aside...

I guess Jean-Paul told you about my birthday?

Spending a lot of time on the beach, yeah. Most of my time, actually. It's a lot different than the water around Minnesota.
